Distributed Clock Configuration on SOMANET Circulo-9

Dear MCX Team,

greetings. I am trying to configure distributed clock on a SOMANET Circulo-9. After downloading the .esi file from the slave and uploading it to the ecat.motorcortex.io I performed the following steps -

Added the Assign Activate value from the .esi file.
Added the value 1000000 (ns) in the field CycleTimeSync0 and and 0(ns) in the field CycleTimeShift0.

Checked the parameters in Process Data SyncManager (screenshot). These parameter values in the .esi file are:

However, I still get the 0x001B: "Sync manager watchdog" message in the dmesg log. I also see Failed to receive AL state datagram: Datagram initialized.

Could you share any suggestions on what might be going wrong here on my setup?

What is the watchdog time specified in your slave?

Sync manager watchdog

Description
The slave did not receive process data within the specified watchdog time. Usually, the WD time is 100ms. The WD is re-started every time it receives new process data, usually when the Output SyncManager (SyncManager2) is written. For devices which have only inputs usually no WD is used. I am not sure what the watchdog time is on the slave. In the .esi file I see the following fields that make the most sense to me -

What kind of MCX image version are you using?
What kind of application and version are you using?
Are you also running some python script on the background?
What is the root/Control_task/absolute_cycle_max
What is the root/Fieldbus_task/absolute_cycle_max

Here are the details:

OS image version: mcx-image-dev-mcx-intel-2024.01-0-g8aa3837.wic.xz
Currently, there is no application running. I am on the first step of configuring DC through ECAT. Don't know if that is a problem.
There is nothing custom running on the IPC or interacting with it.
I will check in some time.

I will try your suggestions and get back to you with more info on #4.

You were able to enter the desk-tool, so there must be an application running else this would have not been possible.

Part of the version you can find in the desk under:
root/AppInfo/versions/app&control&core&xxx

Also you can see it in the version number of the application, when you deploy it from the portal to the mcx-controller.

Disabling the watchdog with the controlbyte field seems to have worked.

[   12.502807] EtherCAT 0: Bus scanning completed in 571 ms.
[   12.502815] EtherCAT 0: Using slave main-0 as DC reference clock.

Although I am curious why does it not work as per the documentation on your website. Could you explain this in detail on what happened and how to avoid it? Is it something specific to the Application I am running or is it something with the ECAT-Slave?
